George Blight (1780-1834)

of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

He was born in England, the son of a Ship's Captain in the West India Trade who was resident for some years in Jamaica before being murdered by his business partner in London with whom he was concocting a scheme to hide his assets from the government. George settled in Philadelphia and married his first cousin, Maria Blight, daughter of Peter Blight, of Philadelphia, and sister-in-law of Julia (Fulton) Blight, of New York City.
