Frederick Grant (c.1775-1843)
Frederic Grant, J.P., D.L., of Mount Cyrus, Kincardineshire
He had been in business as a merchant at Quebec from 1809 with John Greenshields. In 1816, he married Davina, daughter of Robert Grant of Kincorth, a co-founder of the North West Company in Montreal. Frederick outlived his widow (who died at Hastings in 1828) and bequeathed Mount Cyrus to his nephew, William Forsyth-Grant, who gave it a Gothic makeover and renamed it Ecclesgreig Castle.
