Frank Knight Sturgis (1847-1932)

of 17 East 51st Street, N.Y.C., President of the New York Stock Exchange

His father was a nephew of Boston's most prosperous fur merchant, Russell Sturgis. His wife, Florence, was a daughter of Philip Mesier Lydig, of New York City, and the sister of Col. Philip Mesier Lydig. He was President of the New York Stock Exchange and co-founding President of both the Madison Square Garden Company and the Metropolitan Club. Their townhouse in New York, 17 East 51st Street, was designed by Ogden Codman, Jr., and was inspired by 20 St James's Square in London. They summered between "Clipston Grange" in Lenox, Massachusetts and "Faxon Lodge" (now known as Conley Hall), Newport. They died without children.
