Francis Lewis, Jr. (1749-1814)
Dry Goods Merchant & Stock and Insurance Broker of New York
His father set him up in business under Francis Lewis & Son, Dry Goods Merchants. After his father died he partnered with Augustus H. Lawrence as Lewis & Lawrence of 40 Wall Street, Stock and Insurance Brokers, making a "large fortune". In 1775, he married Elizabeth, sister of Daniel Ludlow, President of the Manhattan Company. They had eleven children of whom seven (listed) survived to adulthood.
