Francis Johonnot Oliver (1777-1858)
President of the American Insurance Co., & President of the City Bank of Boston
He was born in Boston and was educated at Boston Latin School before graduating from Harvard College (1795). He became a merchant in partnership with Cornelius Coolidge before becoming President of the American Insurance Company (1818-35) and President of the City Bank of Boston (1835-40). He was Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Massachusetts Freemasons. He was a member of the Boston Common Council and a Member of the State Legislature. In 1840, he moved to Middletown, Connecticut, where he lived until his death.
