Francis Gordon Patterson (1876-1924)

Francis Gordon Patterson, of Boston, Massachusetts

He was born at Geneva, New York. He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University before furthering his education at Victoria College in Leeds, England, where he studied textiles. He returned to the States and was a designer and manufacturer of woollen goods with several companies, notably Lawrence & Co. During the war, he was appointed Industrial Inspector for the New England and was later transferred to Washington D.C. with the Quartermaster Corps. On April 25, 1905, he married Helen Bowditch Long who is remembered for almost single-handedly saving Gore Place from development or worse. He died at Cohasset, Massachusetts, without children.
