Francena (Jay) Van Cortlandt (1701-1780)

Mrs "Frances" (Jay) Van Cortlandt

She was the aunt of the distinguished statesman, John Jay, and John's brother, Sir James Jay, the inventor of invisible ink. She lived at the still extant Van Cortlandt House in The Bronx. She was the mother of two sons and a daughter, Eva, Mrs Henry White, whose husband was President of the New York Chamber of Commerce.
