Erskine Hazard (1789-1865)

Key American Industrialist & Co-Founder of the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Co.

He and his business partner Josiah White were industrialists who developed infrastructure projects across Pennsylvania and the Northeastern United States that played a key role in ushering in America's industrial revolution that led to the United States becoming the world's foremost economic power. He co-founded the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Company that pioneered anthracite coal mining, canal technology, railroads, iron production, and wire rope.
