Ernest Vail Stebbins (1874-1950)

E. Vail Stebbins, Stockbroker, of 110 East 54th Street, New York City

He was born in New York City and after graduating from Cornell became a stockbroker with Logan & Bryan at 42 Broadway. He served as a Gunner's Mate on the U.S.S. Yankee in the Spanish-American War and was present at the first bombardment of Santiago as well as a number of other engagements. Later, he was a Member of the Race Committee of the New York Yacht Club, arranging the international race for the America's Cup in 1930. Prominent in society, he was among the invitees to the infamous Bradley Martin Fancy Dress Ball in 1897, in which he is seen dressed-up in the image. He died unmarried at his home, 110 East 54th Street, New York City.
