Emmet Queen (b.1854)

Emmet Queen, of Pittsburgh; President of the Great Lakes Coal Company etc.

He was born in Queenstown, Armstrong Co., Pennsylvania, which was developed by and named for his father. In 1877, he and two of his brothers (Daniel and Evan) co-founded Queen Brothers that drilled for and then mined and sold gas and oil. They became very successful and co-founded the Great Lakes Coal Company and the Western Allegheny Railroad Company. Emmet was president of both companies.
