She graduated from Escola Graduada in Brazil; Mount Holyoke in South Hadley, Massachusetts; and, Radcliffe College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1958, at Greenwich, Connecticut, she married John S. Samuels III whose extraordinary rise and fall from grace is told here. They were the parents of four children, including the actor John Stockwell and the Vice-President of Arts & Sciences at King's College, London, Evelyn Welch, the mother of Florence Welch, the lead singer of the hugely successful English band 'Florence and the Machine'. Sadly, the Samuels separated in 1979 and tragically Mrs Samuels (who was bipolar) took her own life in 1999.
