Elizabeth (Wolferstan) Thomas (1773-1855)
Mrs Elizabeth (Wolferstan) Thomas, Poet & Novelist
She was the second daughter of Edward Wolferstan (1727-1799), of Berry House, Hartland, Devon, built by her grandfather, Nicholas Wolferstan (1695-1763), who grew up at Statfold Hall, Staffordshire, the ancestral seat of the Wolferstan family since the mid-16th century. Among others, Elizabeth authored "Purity of Heart, or the Ancient Costume" published in 1816; "The Georgian, or the Mayor of Tripoli and Other Poems" published in 1847; and, "The Convert, A Tale of Real Life," published in 1840.
