Elizabeth Oswald (1734-1819)

Mrs "Peggy" (Oswald) Chew

She was heiress to her uncle, Captain Joseph Turner, of Philadelphia. In 1757, she married Chief Justice Benjamin Chew and they were the parents of eight children: (1) Benjamin Chew Jr. married Katherine Banning and succeeded to Cliveden (2) Juliana, married Philip Nicklin and their daughter, Sophia, married U.S. Vice-President George Mifflin Dallas (3) Margaret, married General John Eager Howard (4) Henrietta, died unmarried (5) Sophia, married Henry Philips, of Philipsburg (6) Maria, died unmarried (7) Harriet, married Charles Carroll IV (8) Catherine, died unmarried.
