Elias Avery Lowe (1879-1969)
E.A. Loew/Lowe, Professor of Palaeography at Oxford & Princeton Universities
He was born in Moscow, Russia, to a Lithuanian-Jewish family. He emigrated to New York City with his parents when he was thirteen (1892) and became a citizen of the United States in 1900. He and his wife were the parents of three daughters including the grandmother of U.K. Prime Minister Boris (Kemal) Johnson.
