Edwin Osgood Carnes (1831-1860)
Edwin Osgood Carnes, Midshipman in the U.S. Navy
He was born in Paris, France. He graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Midshipman, principally patrolling the South American coastline and also visiting Japan in the 1850s. In 1857, he married Sarah Strong Weeks and they had two children (Harriet and Edwin) before he died.
