Edward Lloyd (1857-1948)
Commodore in the U.S. Navy
Having already sold off thousands of acres since the Civil War, by the time Commodore Lloyd's father died in 1907, he was unable to pay the taxes due on Wye. To keep it in the family, he sold the house, its furnishings, outbuildings, and several thousand acres to his sister-in-law, Mary Donnell Lloyd, for $2,726.80 with money she inherited from her family. He had one son, Edward, who moved to New York.
