Edward John Hale (1800-1875)
Major Edward J. Hale, M.P. of Quebec; Seigneur of Pontneuf
He was the nephew of the 1st Earl of Amherst, Governor-General of India, and a godson of the Duke of Kent, father of Queen Victoria. He was a Member of the Legislative Council of Quebec. In 1831, he married Eliza Cecilia, daughter of Chief Justice Edward Bowen and they were the parents of six children.
