Edward Hill Dorsey (1758-1799)
"Iron Head Ned" of "Belmont" & the Avalon Iron Works
He inherited from his father and lived at "Belmont" (pictured) in Howard County, Maryland. He and his brother, Samuel, ran the Avalon Iron Works during the Revolutionary War, manufacturing cast-iron for muskets and cannon for use by the Continental Army. "Belmont" (pictured) passed to his daughter, Priscilla Hanson.
