Edward Floyd DeLancey (1821-1905)
President of the St. Nicholas Society of New York
He became a lawyer in New York City in partnership with Gerard Walton Morris and later with George Clinton GenĂȘt. In 1867, he traveled abroad for two years, working for a time in England while also visiting Continental Europe, Asia Minor, Northern Africa, and the Holy Land. Returning to New York, he was President of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and President of the Saint Nicholas Society of the City of New York. He was considered the head of DeLancey family, "all the other branches having become extinct in the male line."
