He lived with his family between 3 East 78th Street (next to the James B. Duke House that replaced its original neighbor, the Henry Cook Mansion) in a house that still stands designed by C.P.H. Gilbert, and his estate Conyers Farms at Greenwich, Connecticut. He was married twice and had three children by his first wife.
