Dudley Woodbridge (1677-1720)

Director-General of the Assiento (South Sea) Company in Barbados

He was born at Hartford, Connecticut, and was educated at Magdalene College, Oxford. He was the Director-General of the Assiento (South Sea) Company and Judge of the High Court of Admiralty at Barbados. He lived between Kensington in London and Mount Standfast in Barbados. The portrait above shows him celebrating being called to Chambers with Captain Holland, painted by William Hogarth in 1730.
