Thomas Pell (1608-1669)
1st Lord of Pelham Manor, New York; Gentleman of the Bedchamber to Charles I
He was educated at Cambridge University and became a Physician and Gentleman of the Bedchamber to King Charles I. In the 1630s, he emigrated to New England and in 1654 he purchased 50,000-acres in what is now Westchester County, New York. He died without children and left his estate to his nephew, John Pell.
