Dr. David Yale (1540-1626)

LL.D., of "Plas Grono" Denbighshire; Chancellor & Vicar-General of Chester

He built "Plas Grono" at the end of the 16th Cenntury and it remained in the Yale family until 1728. He graduated from Queen's College, Cambridge, and held the positions of Chancellor and Vicar-General of Chester courtesy of his daughter-in-law's father, George Lloyd, Bishop of Chester. He was the great-grandfather of Elihu Yale, namesake of Yale University.
