Donald Forbes Angus (1869-1943)

D. Forbes Angus, Chairman of Standard Life Assurance etc.

He was born in Montreal. He was President of the International Coal Company; owner of the Carter White Lead Company; Chairman of Standard Life Assurance and President of Guardian Life Assurance. He was also a director of the Bank of Montreal (of which his father been president), the Royal Trust Company, the Paton Manufacturing Co., and the British Columbia Sugar Refinery. In 1894, he married Mary, daughter of Frederick Henshaw, and they had four sons. His best man at the wedding was Frederick E. Meredith, whose cousin, Charles Meredith had married his sister, Elspeth Angus, the year before. He lived at 243 Drummond Street before moving into his father's old home across the street, the R.B. Angus House.
