David Ross (c.1755-1810)
David Ross, Merchant, at Quebec
He was born at Ross & Cromarty in Scotland and his family owned a cotton plantation in Dutch Guyana. He was the brother of Colonel Walter Ross (1760-1831) of Nigg, Ross-shire; Mrs Flora Ross-Taylor; and, of Anna Ross (d.1827), who married Daniel Munro of Queen Street, near Hanover Square, London. David settled in Quebec where he became a merchant and landowner. In 1787, at Quebec, he married Angelica Stuart by whom he had two children (Charles and Mrs Angelica Graddon) who were both left bequests from their aunt in London, Mrs Anna Munro.
