David Hamilton Macpherson (1858-1906)

Capt. David Hamilton Macpherson, Inspector in the North West Mounted Police

He was born in Toronto and joined the North West Mounted Police in 1880. He deserted four months later and surrendered himself three years later when he was sentenced to 6-months in jail. He resumed his duties in 1884 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1887 and then Sergeant-Major prior to being commissioned as an Inspector in 1888. In 1890, he was Inspector of the Southern Division in Alberta. In 1895, he was appointed Captain and honorary aide-de-camp to the Governor-General, Lord Aberdeen. He retired from service in 1897. He married Florence Gourley Nash of Brookfield House, Truro, Nova Scotia, and settled with her at Kensington in London.
