Daniel Huger (1651-1711)

French Huguenot, of "Wambaw" Plantation, Craven Co., South Carolina

He was the son of Jean Huger, Royal Notary of the town of Loudon in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. They were Huguenots and to avoid the persecution after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes he fled France and emigrated to South Carolina. In 1677, he married Margueritte Perdriau of La Rochelle and they had twelve children, but were survived just a son and a daughter.
