Dallas Bache Pratt (1849-1929)

Banker & Commodore of the New York Yacht Club, of 270 Park Avenue, N.Y.C.

He was born in New York City and educated Trinity School. He was not related to Charles Pratt of Standard Oil as is sometimes claimed. When he was sixteen, he entered the banking firm of Brown Brothers & Co. where he remained until 1881 when he became Cashier of the Bank of America. In 1891, he became a partner in the banking firm Maitland, Phelps & Co., and was connected with several prominent corporations, notably the Ohio Falls Car Manufacturing Company, of Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was Commodore of the New York Yacht Club and a member of the Metropolitan, Union League, and Riding clubs among others. In 1881, he married Minnie, daughter of Charles Griswold Landon and they had four children. For many years they lived at 24 West 48th Street, before moving to 270 Park Avenue, New York.
