Cuthbert Bullitt (1774-1825)

Merchant & Developer, of Louisville, Kentucky

He and his brother, Thomas, operated a tavern together in Moorefield (Hardy County, West Virginia) before moving to Louisville in 1802. There, they quickly established themselves as successful merchants and at one time they were among the wealthiest citizens and largest landowners in Louisville. They built and operated Spring Mill (now a state park near Mitchell, Indiana) and are considered the developers - if not the founders - of Terre Haute, Indiana. He married Ann, daughter of General Joseph Neville.
