Cornelia (Clinch) Stewart (1802-1886)

Mrs Cornelia Mitchell (Clinch) Stewart

She was the daughter of a well-off ship chandler of New York, Jacob Clinch, and his wife Susanna Banker. She received a good education, but after marrying her husband in 1825 she was not above helping in the store and very much aided her husband's success. Their two children died in infancy. She was the aunt of Mrs John Lawrence Smith, mother-in-law of the famous architect Stanford White.
