Col. Edward Fenwick (1720-1775)

of Fenwick Hall, Member of the Governor's Council of South Carolina

He inherited his father's estates in South Carolina, including Fenwick Hall. He obtained another 11,000 acres and at his death he owned seven plantations, a townhouse in Charleston, and 500 slaves. At Fenwick Hall he operated a thoroughbred horse stud farm and he was one of the founders of the South Carolina Jockey Club.
