Christopher Hagerman (1721-1795)

Christopher Hagerman, of Adolphustown, Upper Canada

He was a Hessian/Prussian mercenary who fought for George III at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. He was attached to the British Army that fought at the Conquest of Quebec in 1759. Choosing to settle in North America, he moved south to Dutchess County in New York where he purchased 2,000-acres. He sided with the British during the Revolution but did not fight. He later joined his son, Nicholas, at Adolphustown, Upper Canada, where he died in 1795. He was the father of at least 4-sons.
