Charlotta Drayton (1884-1969)

Charlotta Drayton, the last chatelaine of Drayton Hall, South Carolina

She was the last member of the Drayton family to spend significant time at Drayton Hall, dividing her time between there and her father's house in Charleston where she died. She was described as shy and is remembered for taking afternoon tea almost every day. She loved reading, travelling and painting in watercolors. She was known as "Aunt Charley" to her nephews and had an adored dog named "Nipper". She died unmarried.
