Charles Joseph Brittain (1878-1942)
Charles J. Brittain, of Montreal; Vice-President of Canadian Fairbanks-Morse Ltd.
He was born at Liverpool in England, the son of William and Martha (Young) Brittain. He started his career as a cashier with the Morrison Brass Manufacturing Company. By 1903, he was manager of the Fairbanks Company at Toronto and for a period lived in Winnipeg and Saskatoon. In 1918, he moved to Montreal on his appointment as Director, Vice-President and General Sales Manager of what had by then become the Canadian Fairbanks-Morse Co., Ltd. In 1901, he married Ethel, daughter of Dr William Myers, a Dentist in Toronto, and they had one daughter, Mrs Rosalie Ballantyne. They lived at 382 Roslyn Avenue in Westmount, Montreal.
