Caspar Wistar (1696-1752)

Founder of the Wistarburg Glass Works, Salem County, New Jersey

Caspar Wistar (born February 3, 1696 in Waldhilsbach, Electoral Palatinate; died: March 21, 1752 in Pennsylvania Colony, British North America) established himself in the new world as a brass button maker and eventually, in 1739, founded the first successful glass works in British North America.
