Cardinal Brewster (1813-1889)
Major Cardinal Brewster (1813-1889) J.P., D.L., F.S.A., of Greenstead Hall, Essex
He was a Surgeon-Major in the 1st Foot, Essex Regiment, until his marriage in 1841 to Margaret, third daughter and co-heiress of Henry Butterworth, Cotton Printer, of "Sunnyside" Burnley, Lancashire. He was a member of the Royal Society of Antiquaries. The Brewsters lived principally at Greenstead Hall in Essex and kept a townhouse at 43 Arundel Gardens in Kensington, London. They were the parents of a son (Francis Wentworth Brewster) and a daughter, Mrs Margaret Thurlow.
