Capt. John Montague (1754-1831)
U.S. Soldier in the Continental Army, wounded defending Gen. George Washington
He is referred to on his tombstone as a "U.S. Soldier" which casts a doubt on whether or not he was an officer, let alone a Captain. However, his tombstone does refer to his act of bravery in the Revolution when he received a sabre wound to his head and arm while defending Gen. Washington against a British officer. He is the maternal great-great-grandfather of Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor.
