Campbell Steward (1852-1936)

"Cam" Steward, Stockbroker, of New York City & Goshen, Orange Co.

He was born in New York City and as a boy during the Civil War he was a member of the privileged Knickerbocker Greys with the likes of William Waldorf Astor and Ogden Goelet etc. His first cousins included James J. Van Alen. Growing up, he purchased a seat on the New York Stock Exchange and married Margaret, daughter of Gilbert Livingston Beeckman. On retiring, he returned to Goshen where the Steward family had lived since the early 18th century. He was survived by two sons and three daughters.
