Benjamin Franklin Wing (1805-1884)

Dr Benjamin F. Wing, of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts

He was born at Rochester, Massachusetts. He became a physician and practiced at Yarmouth, Barnstable County, before moving to Boston. For a period in the late 1830s/early 1840s he put aside his medical career on becoming a partner in the drug manufacturing firm of Lowe, Reed & Wing. He resumed his medical career in 1844, establishing himself at Jamaica Plain where in the following year he purchased the historic Hallowell House from the estate of Harvard's great benefactor, Ward Nicholas Boylston. He and his wife were the parents of seven children.
