Benjamin F. Brown (1833-1894)
Benjamin F. Brown, of Wilton, Connecticut; State Representative & Town Treasurer
He was the son of Sylvanus Brown, a mill owner from Lewisboro, New York. He came to Wilton as the assistant schoolmaster to Aaron B. Lockwood who'd ran a private school there since 1851. Six years later, Benjamin married Lockwood's daughter and Lockwood gifted his daughter the 1.4 acres on which Benjamin would build the house, 33 Cannon Road, that was to be both their home, and a new home for "Brown Academy". In later life, Brown was elected as the Wilton State Representative and Town Treasurer.
