Beekman Winthrop (1874-1940)

U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Navy, the Treasury & Governor of Puerto Rico

He retired from public service in 1913. In 1916, he resigned his position on the board of the National City Bank to become a senior partner of Robert Winthrop & Co. in New York, a position he held until 1939. He was a personal friend of Theodore Roosevelt.
