Arthur Theodore Lyman (1832-1915)

Cotton Manufacturer, of "The Vale" Waltham, Massachusetts

He was President of the Pacific Mills, the Bigelow Carpet Co., the Massachusetts Cotton Mills in Georgia, and the mills of the same name in Lowell, the Merrimac Manufacturing Company and other industrial and insurance concerns, and was the proprietor of most of the locks and canals on the Merrimac River. He served as overseer of Harvard University, President of the Boston Athenaeum, and as a member of the Corporation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
