He was married three times: (1) In 1869, at St. Mary's, Clapham, he married Emma, daughter of Adolphe Emmanuel de Chastelain, Founder (1849) of the French & German Protestant College at Church House, Merton, Surrey, and formerly Principal of a large School in Paris and Author of a French-and-English Dictionary. They had one daughter, Juliette, of West Brighton. (2) Miss Stevenson, who was most likely a sister of his brother-in-law, William Prince Stevenson (3) Miss Tozer, by whom he had one daughter, Muriel, of West Brighton.
