Anne-Marie (Guestier) Goelet (1899-1988)

Mrs Anne-Marie (Guestier) Goelet

She was born in France where her father ran the family firm, Barton & Guestier, wine merchants of Bordeaux, founded in 1735. She married Bertie Goelet of New York. She was awarded as an Officer of the French Legion of Honor during World War II for helping French-American wives and providing medical services to the populace around their estate, the Chateau de Sandricourt. She retired to America and divided her time between Southside in Newport and her apartment in Manhattan where she died.
