She was born in Hyde Park, New York, a granddaughter of Mrs. Dorothea (Astor) Langdon and a a great-granddaughter of Judge Maturin Livingston, of Grasmere, Rhinebeck. She served on the boards of the Bellevue Training School for Nurses and the Training School for Deaconesses of the Episcopal Church, New York.
