Andrew Robeson (1817-1874)
Merchant, Banker & Calico Printer of Boston & Tiverton, Rhode Island
He was born at New Bedford, Massachusetts. He graduated in medicine from Penn University in Philadelphia (1839) but instead chose a career in business and in 1840 joined his father's firm "Andrew Robeson & Sons". From 1848 until his death, he was in charge of the Print Works at Fall River and he was also involved in various interests in Boston. From 1862, he wintered in Boston and later retired to Tiverton, Massachusetts. In 1853, he built Elm Court in Newport as his summer home. In 1843, at Islesboro, Maine, he married Mary, daughter of Zachariah and Eliza (Arnold) Allen and they had four children, three of whom (listed above) survived to adulthood.
