Andrew Carney (1794-1864)
Founder of Carney & Sleeper, Clothiers, Boston
He was reputed to be worth $400,000 in in 1851, having given over $300,000 to charity during his lifetime. He established the Carney Hospital in Boston (today's Caritas-Carney Hospital), the first Catholic hospital in New England.
