Ambrose Cornelius Kingsland (1804-1878)

Ambrose C. Kingsland, 71st Mayor of New York City

He became a wealthy merchant trading in sperm whale oil with Britain and the East Indies. He is best remembered for initiating the legislation that led to the creation of Central Park. His townhouse was at 114 Fifth Avenue.
