Alonzo Coit (1849-1921)

Colonel Alonzo B. Coit, of Columbus & San Diego

He was born at Columbus, Ohio, and became the owner of the Columbus Trunk & Hand Luggage Company. In 1889, he was given command with the rank of Colonel of the 14th Regiment of the Ohio National Guard that in 1898 was reorganized as the 4th O.V.I. to fight in the Spanish-American War. In 1873, he married Annette Clark Preston (1853-1934) and they had two sons and a daughter. They later moved to San Diego, California, where he died.
