Allan Routledge (1895-1916)

Lt. Allan Routledge, of the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment. Killed in Action

He was born at Montreal and was a grandson of Sir Hugh Allan. He grew up at Belmere on Lake Memphremagog and was educated at Bishop's College School, Lennoxville. He started a career in banking before joining the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment as a Lieutenant in 1915. He died of wounds at the military hospital in Etaples, France, in September, 1916. He was unmarried.
